Every Tuesday I have a break from 12:30PM to 3:45PM and today I was having lunch solo. I decided to go to Hanco's since I was craving for a Vietnamese Iced Coffee and plus, tips aren't necessary at Hanco's. Unfortunately, this is the ONLY Vietnamese food joint in the Downtown Brooklyn area so the prices for food are a little high.
Hanco's serves Vietnamese noodle soups, banh mi's, a wide variety of drinks, salads, spring rolls, summer rolls, and noodle & rice dishes. Hanco's is a good joint to check out if your craving for good Vietnamese food. In addition, there's free wifi.

| Grilled Chicken Banh Mi Sandwich |
The baguette is crunchy and fresh. The banh mi is filled with the real stuff and by real stuff I mean, fillings you would find at the better Vietnamese sandwich shops in Chinatown. The chicken was moist, tender, lightly sweetened, and just pure perfection. I think it was my favorite part of the whole sandwich.
The sandwiches here never fail my expectations, but the prices do make me cry at times. You can definitely get a good Vietnamese sandiwch in Chinatown for a cheaper price. Next time I go to my favorite Vietnamese sandwich/quick bite place I will write a review and post photos in comparision with this post to show you the difference in quality and price.
Hanco's isn't a place I would come often for food just because the prices are quite expensive and the portion sizes aren't that big. In some ways, you're not getting what your worth when you pay for the food. Don't let what I say deter you from trying out Hanco's because their bubble tea is excelletn stuff! Bright side, being the coffee junkie that I am, I am happy to say I have found another place with fine and excellent coffee! Vietnamese iced coffee that is!

Almost seven bucks for a banh mi is a lot of money, but it sure looks delicious! There is a spot near my work that makes a similar sandwich, except they put way too much mayonnaise so I ask for without. It is not nearly as expensive but recently the sandwich shrank in size. So sad, but pretty tasty. I'm no expert on Vietnamese food, I just go for what I think tastes good.
ReplyDeleteThank you. How much does the Banh Mi's around your area cost?
DeleteActually Hanco's isn't the ONLY Vietnamese place in Downtown Brooklyn, there's Nicky's Vietnamese Sandwiches right by Atlantic Ave. If the quality justifies the price, then I would pay for it, but sadly not a lot of places make Vietnamese sandwiches correctly...
ReplyDeleteYes I heard of Nicky's Vietnamese Sandwiches. I'll have to check it out when I'm in the area.
